Conde Nast Traveller UK: Off the Wall
The beautiful city of Durban, South Africa, is in the midst of an inner-city revival — read all about the new Rivertown district in the November issue of Conde Nast Traveller UK.
Fathom: Two Stories
I have two Brazil pieces up in one of my favorite travel sites, Fathom. Read about a beach break in Buzios (“Buzios is the Hamptons’ Sexy Brazilian Twin“) and a lovely colonial escape in Paraty (“Paraty, You Had Me Even in the Rain“). I also got to fill out the site’s fun “Fathom Questionnaire,” sharing my fondest travel memories — from that time I was haunted by one exposed boob in Vienna to that time I was spit on in Jodhpur. You have to read it to understand.
The Independent: Satyagraha House, Johannesburg: B&B and Beyond
My latest piece for the UK newspaper The Independent is about an unexpected B&B in Johannesburg — Satyagraha House, an inn and museum dedicated to Gandhi, who lived on the property for a few years during his South African sojourn. Read it here.
Travel + Leisure: Definitive Guide to Mumbai
In the October issue of Travel + Leisure you’ll find my byline in three places: an item on how to haggle for a carpet in a Moroccan market, one of the cover story’s 50 Dream Trips (South Africa, of course), and this gorgeously shot feature on where to eat, sleep, shop, and party in Mumbai.
Vogue India: Two Features
I have two stories in the big September issue of Vogue India: in fashion, I tackle a glossary of key fashion buzzwords for fall, with quotes from Monique Lhuillier, Peter Pilotto, and more. In travel, I spotlight the up-and-coming destinations for wildlife, fashion, adventure, and more.
The Independent: 48 Hours in Istanbul
New in the UK newspaper The Independent this weekend: my guide on what to see and do in Istanbul if you’re only in town for a short 48-hour stint (though I’d urge you to spend more time there — I was there six days and it didn’t feel like enough!). Read it here.
