The new (November 4) issue of New York magazine has a huge Winter Travel special that I’m happy to be a part of. The theme was second (or third, or fourth…) cities, places that are often overshadowed in favor or more heavily touristed spots. I wrote two of the recommendations: Durban instead of Cape Town, and Hyderabad instead of Mumbai. Don’t get me wrong, Cape Town and Mumbai are amazing destinations – the purpose of the package is merely to celebrate some other lovely cities that might not get the same hype, but do share some of the same merits.
