The April/May Islands issue marks my final issue as Editor in Chief of Condé Nast Traveller Middle East — and I marked this milestone by reporting one of my favorite features yet. In “Turning of the Tides,” I visit Lamu, an archipelago off the coast of Kenya, to explore its alluring coastline and ancient links to the Middle East. I also checked in the new new Anantara World Islands resort in Dubai, and commissioned a photo essay on the Yemeni island of Socotra from Dubai-based photographer Andy Marty, and chatted with Pakistani celebrity designer Faraz Manan about his favorite spots in his hometown of Lahore.
